Backup & Restore¶
NexusUC includes an inbuilt automated backup and restore system. Partners manage backups for each PBX instance directly from the Localcom Partner Portal — no command-line access or manual scripting is required.
To access it, log in to the Partner Portal, open the service for your PBX instance, and select Backup and Restore.
What is backed up¶
| Backup type | Contents |
|---|---|
| Config | PBX configuration: extensions, devices, ring groups, queues, IVR menus, time conditions, call flows, and all other settings |
| Config and user data | Everything in a config backup, plus user data such as voicemail messages and call recordings |
Automated backups¶
- Open Backup and Restore for your PBX instance.
- Set Automated Backup Mode — choose the schedule and scope (for example, Weekly | Config and user data).
- Set Maximum number of backups (up to 3).
- Click Change to apply.
Notes:
- Old backups are removed automatically once the maximum number is reached — the oldest backup is replaced by the newest.
- Automated backup storage is charged per GB per day. The current rate is shown in the notice at the top of the Backup and Restore page.
Manual (on-demand) backups¶
Before making major configuration changes, take a manual backup:
- Backup config now — configuration only (fast, small)
- Backup config and user data now — full backup including voicemail and recordings
The new backup appears in the list below the buttons with its date/time stamp and size.
Restoring a backup¶
- Locate the backup in the list (named by schedule and timestamp, e.g.
weekly_20260628033105). - Click Restore next to it.
- Wait for the restore to complete before making any further changes to the PBX.
Warning
Restoring a backup replaces the current PBX configuration (and user data, if the backup includes it) with the contents of the backup. Any changes made after the backup was taken will be lost. If in doubt, take a manual backup of the current state first.
Recommended practice¶
- Keep automated backups on Weekly | Config and user data as a minimum.
- Take a manual config backup immediately before bulk changes (e.g. re-numbering extensions, rebuilding an IVR).
- After a successful restore, verify extension registrations under Status → Registrations and place a test call.
If a restore fails or a backup is missing, contact Localcom support through the Partner Portal with your PBX domain name and the backup timestamp.
